Stabilisers and safety
Scenic Eclipse features custom-built stabilisers that are 50% larger than other ships of its kind. Fitted with state-of-the-art fins that can adjust themselves to cope with even the biggest swells, Scenic Eclipse remains steady, at all speeds. This world-class innovation provides the highest levels of safety and comfort.
Designed with the old adage of safety in numbers, Scenic Eclipse features a strengthened hull to take on icy conditions, along with two engine rooms in separate fire zones, two wheel houses and two galleys/refrigeration units. Guests’ safety and comfort remains our number one priority.
Scenic Eclipse will have an Ice Class 1A Super rating (Polar Class 6 in the new classification system) *, enabling navigation through Arctic and Antarctic waters in summer. Our cruises will be limited to 200 guests in these regions, giving us access to the broadest range of landing sites for easy embarkation and disembarkation.

Scenic Eclipse’s boundary-pushing build means even greater levels of comfort and safety for our guests, with state-of-the-art engineering and stunning external design that draws inspiration from the sleek contours of mega-yachts.
Rather than a traditional anchor, which provides little stability, Scenic Eclipse uses dynamic positioning and GPS to ensure accurate, environmentally-conscious mooring wherever we are in the world.
Additionally, our commitment to the environment continues with advanced water treatment systems and efficient low impact engines.
