This morning explore the old and new faces of Dubai with your local guide. See the famous Burj al Arab, visit Al Fahidi Fort and the Dubai Museum. Ride the Abra (water-taxi) across the creek and wander through the world famous gold and spice souqs. Later, ride the high speed elevators 124 floors up the tallest tower in the
world, the magnifi cent Burj Khalifa. Visit ‘At the Top’ and marvel at the unobstructed 360 degree view over the city, the desert and the Arabian Gulf. Meals: B

Johannesburg > Pretoria > Blue Train
Welcome to Johannesburg. You’ll be transferred to Pretoria Train Station and enjoy pre-departure snacks and drinks before stepping on board the magnificent 5-star Blue Train, which offers the ultimate in luxury service. Each coach has a butler on call, serving a maximum of four suites, to attend to your every need.

Blue Train
The journey between Pretoria and Cape Town takes you through some of the most diverse and breathtaking scenery. Once you’ve settled in, relax in the comfort of your suite or in the impressive lounge or observation cars at the rear of the train, and drink in the panoramic views of the passing countryside. You’ll partake in brunch and High Tea in the luxurious lounge car before taking a step back in time to the days of the diamond rush. Hop onto an old tram for a ride down to the mine at the Open Mine Museum in Kimberley. Later, re-join the train for pre-dinner drinks and a sumptuous dinner, where dressing up is still a tradition.

Travel through the Cape wine region and Drakenstein Mountains before arriving in Cape Town in the early afternoon. You’ll be met and transferred to the Table Bay Hotel with the rest of the day at leisure. Board the luxurious Rovos Rail service in Victoria Falls this afternoon. Unwind in your suite or join fellow travellers in the lounge car or observation car at the rear of the train. Dinner is served in the dining cars en-route to Kennedy Siding.

Hwange National Park
After an early breakfast, disembark for a morning game drive at The Hide in Hwange National Park, located in the northwest corner of Zimbabwe and known for its large herds of elephants. Re-board the train and travel along one of the world’s longest stretches of straight railway line at a length of 114 kilometres.

Rovos Rail
Enjoy a leisurely breakfast and settle in for a comfortable and scenic journey as you travel south, crossing the Tropic of Capricorn. This evening the train passes the edge of the escarpment where the

Day 2
Nairobi > Kigali > Parc National des Volcans
Transfer to the airport for your flight (not included) to Kigali, Rwanda. On arrival you’ll be met and transferred to the Sabyinyo Silverback Lodge, your accommodation for the next two nights. The Lodge is situated in the foothills of the mighty Virungas, a chain of 4,570 metre volcanoes stretching through Rwanda, Uganda and the Democratic Republic of Congo. The guest cottages have been beautifully appointed, making it the perfect base from which to explore. On arrival, partake in a sumptuous lunch at the main lodge, with its scenic views of the Parc National des Volcans, before enjoying a free afternoon to relax or take in beautiful surrounds.

Today is free for you to explore. Perhaps begin your adventure on a guided gorilla trek in the forest (gorilla permits are at an additional cost). It’s difficult to describe the sheer exhilaration of setting your eyes on a wild Silverback gorilla. These are enormous animals, weighing about three times as much as the average man, and looking even bulkier with their luxuriant shaggy coats.

Silverback Lodge > Nairobi
Take the time to continue exploring at your own pace. Perhaps experience a trek to see the golden monkeys, relax with a massage treatment at the lodge after your trek, or visit the colourful local markets. Later, you’ll be transferred to Kigali Airport for your flight to Nairobi (flight not included), and your overnight stay at the elegant Nairobi Serena.

Bumi Hills Lodge > Somalisa Camp
Fly from Bumi Hills to Manga and transfer to Somalisa Camp, set in a private concession in the heart of Hwange National Park, known as ‘the land of the giants’ for its large elephant herds. Spend three nights in elegantly furnished Sail Tents with gauze sliding doors featuring en suite bathroom facilities, an indoor and outdoor shower, as well as a copper slipper-style bathtub. The split level decking includes a separate lounge and dining area, as well as a small splash pool for guests overlooking the ‘elephant pool’, a natural waterhole where herds of game congregate to drink. Activities include guided walks, game drives and night drives. Wildlife sightings include elephant, kudu, sable antelope, zebra, wildebeest, gemsbok, buffalo, giraffe, lion, leopard, hyena, and many other wildlife species

Arrive in Nairobi and transfer to your boutique hotel, the Giraffe Manor, set in 12 acres of private land within indigenous forest on Nairobi’s outskirts. With its stately façade, elegant interior, verdant green gardens, sunny terraces and delightful courtyards, Giraffe Manor is reminiscent of the 1930s when European visitors fi rst fl ocked to East Africa to enjoy safaris. Today it is most famous for its resident herd of Rothschild’s giraffes who may visit morning and evening, sometimes poking their long necks into the windows in the hope of a treat, before retreating to their forest sanctuary.

After settling in, spend the afternoon exploring the grounds before enjoying afternoon tea with the giraffes as the sun sets over the Ngong Hills. This evening enjoy a home-cooked dinner.
