Guardian article celebrates the music of the Netherlands

An article published earlier this week has identified some of the finest music to come out of the Netherlands, exploring the hidden culture of the country whilst also throwing up a few chart classics. Published in the Guardian on Monday, it highlights a few of the finest hits produced from the country, from 60s rock to dance floor rhythms produced by artists often mistaken to be British, German or even American. One of the finest artists mentioned were Earth and Fire, who lit up the European music scene with their 1979 hit ‘Weekend’, which reached the top spot in their home land, as well as Switzerland, Denmark and Portugal. Another is 90s pop rock icon Bettie Servert, who was among a select group of artists to invade the international music scene during the decade. With such an array of hits, The Netherlands has proved it clearly has an ear for a good melody. Why not discover some of more songs from the country while on board a European river cruise?
