Scotland to import New Zealand’s finest whisky

New Zealand formerly had a thriving whisky industry and the remaining stock from Dunedin’s Willowbank malt distillery has been ordered by the largest independent whisky distributor in the UK, Gordon and MacPhail. The 648 bottles could sell for up to $390 each and include top-class varieties such as Dunedin doublewood, South Island single malt, and an award-winning 23 year old cask-strength single malt. This purchase is just one of the instances that could help regenerate the New Zealand whisky industry, and Harrods in London has also signed up to stock the country’s fine product on its shelves. If the whisky industry starts up again, the Dunedin distillery could reopen and become a must-visit place to see on New Zealand tours thanks to the high-quality whisky that is produced there.
