Bucharest's Patriarchal Palace to undergo facelift

The project is expected to cost about €18.9 million and about €17 million is expected to come from the EU. The Palace is one of the great landmarks of Bucharest and the complete restoration of the magnificent building will bring it back to its former splendour by its completion in 2015. A museum will be opened inside which will exhibit religious art treasures belonging to the Romanian Orthodox Church, and the building will be strengthened as well as being artistically restored. Built in the early 1900s, the Patriarchal Palace marks a form of architecture and construction which changed the face of modern building methods. The Palace will remain open during its two-and-a-half year restoration, so anyone hoping to head to the building before the work is completed is more than welcome to do so.
