Speaking on behalf of MoneySupermarket, travel specialist Bob Atkinson explained that purchasing a specific debit or credit card for use overseas can be hugely beneficial, as can making sure that any currency exchanges are carried out well in advance of the departure date.
Another important provision which was recommended was the acquisition of travel insurance, with this inexpensive measure having the potential of saving holidaymakers thousands of pounds in the unlikely event of anything going awry on their trip. Holding a European Health Insurance Card, Atkinson added, ensures that state healthcare can be administered to those who need it in any continental county at a greatly reduced rate.
Atkinson said that, with just a small amount of preparation, it is 'simple to get more bang for your holiday buck'.
