Travel Weekly praises Amsterdam's art scene

Amsterdam was praised for having, and improving upon, a top arts scene last week by top American travel news site Travel Weekly.

Amsterdam has long been the artistic capital of the Netherlands and also has one of the most influential art scenes in Europe. It is home to some of the continent's top art museums and galleries, including the Rijksmuseum, the Stedelijk Museum and the Van Gogh Museum.

This year has seen a huge amount of investment be made into all of these world-famous venues, helping keep Amsterdam up to date, relevant and at the forefront of the art world. The Stedelijk Museum was reopened last September after undergoing a renovation which lasted 9 years, and is now home to some wonderful pieces by Matisse and Warhol.

The Rijksmuseum and the Van Gogh Museum are due to reopen in the next few weeks, with major renovations allowing each to accommodate more visitors and improve exhibition space. With all of these openings and improvements, now is a great time to visit Amsterdam as part of a river cruise.
