SEA LIFE Sydney Aquarium is home to the world's largest Great Barrier Reef exhibit, and a special underwater party was held there to celebrate 25 years of being one of the top attractions in Sydney. Divers swam with Grey Reef Sharks, Leopard Sharks and a range of coloured tropical fish before 'blowing out' the candles of a giant inflatable cake.
Although the party was held at the end of June and is now over, visitors can still join in with the celebrations; a collection of historical photos and videos from the beginnings of SEA LIFE Sydney Aquarium right through to today are on display. The aquarium's emphasis is on "public education and marine conservation", according to senior aquarist Amy Wilkes, and around $700,000 has been raised for the SEA LIFE Conservation Fund, financing various projects that visitors can find out more about. A limited edition 25th anniversary booklet is also available.
