The travel expert has taken a look at some of the top cultural events that are happening across the globe in 2014 and has whittled the list down to her top 10 choices. Jameson believes that these events are sure to be a hit with those who enjoy the "hugely popular" travel style that is event tourism, and those who are set to embark on cultural USA tours next year will be able to find some very special occasions in the country.
Three events from the top 10 list occur in the USA - two of which will see thousands of people head to New York City. During 2014, the city will be hosting the premiere of Aladdin the Musical at the New Amsterdam Theatre in Broadway and is also set to open the National September 11 Memorial Museum. Both of these events are expected to draw crowds far into their future, as well as during the opening weeks.
Aladdin the Musical is expected to follow in the successful footsteps of The Lion King and Mary Poppins as the latest stage musical created by Disney Theatrical Productions. Composer Alan Menken, who wrote the score for the original Disney film, has also written some brand new songs to be included in the Broadway production, and it will be directed and choreographed by Tony-Award-winner Casey Nicholaw; great things are expected from this musical. Aladdin the Musical is set to open on 20th March 2014 for its debut on Broadway.
The National September 11 Memorial Museum will be opening sometime between March and May 2014 at Ground Zero in Lower Manhattan, where the Twin Towers previously stood. The museum will be dedicated to the people who lost their lives at the site, which totals almost 3,000. Some of the displays will include personal possessions and recorded messages about those who died from friends and family.
