The Bordeaux Fete Le Vin, otherwise known as the Bordeaux Wine Festival, has announced some of the activities that will be taking place.
Bordeaux, a popular stop-off for the Quality river cruises and wine are two of Bordeaux’s most famous features. It will therefore come as no surprise that the Bordeaux Wine Festival is hugely popular with holidaymakers and locals, which is why one of its main activities is the famous Wine Route event.
The Wine Route is essentially a 2km trail on the banks of the Garonne River. Tasting pavilions will be erected by some of Bordeaux’s most impressive 18th century buildings and people participating in the Wine Route event will be able to taste 80 different types of wine from the Bordeaux and Aquitaine regions.
There will be more than just tasting pavilions, however, as visitors will also be able to learn about all the different varieties of wine from the route’s discovery pavilions and the Bordeaux Wine School, as well as being able to tuck into some of France’s most delicious cheeses.
Shows and concerts
The Bordeaux Wine Festival will also have a number of live shows and concerts for visitors to enjoy. The Bordeaux Music Festival, for example, will feature on every evening of the Bordeaux Wine Festival at the Place des Quinconces. Other shows include the Sound and Image show, which every evening will project a light show onto the Palais de la Bourse, and the International Festival of Pyrotechnics, which takes place every night from 11.30pm and offers visitors to Bordeaux a spectacular firework display above the Garonne River.
The Barrel Rolling Competition
Finally, fun-lovers should be sure check out the Barrel Rolling Competition. The traditional competition sees participants roll two barrels down a course, with the fastest to finish crowned the champion.
