Fun things to do in Bucharest

We have shortened the list to come up with what we think are the best activities you can do during special escorted river cruises this year and in 2015.

While not all of the activities on the list would appeal to everyone, Bucharest certainly offers visitors an array of options.

Take a rowing boat on the Dambovita River

There are a number of free boat rides available on the Dambovita River, which is near the centre of Bucharest.

The boat rides allow visitors to paddle between the Unirii Bridge and the National Library of Bucharest.

Rowmania Center, who are the company behind the free boat rides, revealed that the free trips will run up until October of this year and could then be extended further if it proves to be popular.

Indoor ice skating

At AFI Palace Cotroceni there is an ice skating rink, which is believed to be the only one that is open during the summer.

The experience of skating on ice whilst outside the sun beats down on Bucharest is sure to offer some respite from the heat, and that is why the rink is often very popular with local residents.

Promenade outdoor theatre

As part of the Promenade Theatre Festival there is an outdoor theatre at the top of the popular Promenade Mall.

The festival runs until the end of July and if you are stopping-off in the Romanian capital on one of the highest standard European river cruises that commonly drop anchor in the city then you are in for a treat as the festival boasts a number of highly acclaimed plays.

Performances at the unique outdoor theatre include Dream and Women on the Move.

Last on our list of fun activities taking place in Bucharest over the summer months is the SenzArt exhibition at the National Museum of Contemporary Art MNAC.

The exhibition has a wide variety of weird and wonderful displays, from a display on zip locks and sounds to a rainbow that allows visitors to create music by interacting with objects on the display.
