Most luxury river cruises which take visitors along the Danube to Romania tend to dock at Cernavoda before taking passengers on an excursion to the coast of the Black Sea, normally in the lovely seaside town of Constanta. Now that the first tourism ships are ready to navigate down the canal, larger river cruise ships could soon be taking passengers all the way to the Black Sea along the Danube-Black Sea canal.
The first small tour ships will be taking passengers down the canal this summer for what is expected to be a day cruise. Many have dubbed the canal a "monumental engineering feat" akin to the construction of the Panama and Suez canals, and once tourism ships begin to take more passengers down the waterway, it is sure to be as well-known.
