scenic questions and answers

In this edition of Scenic Spotlight, we chat to Product and Content Team Leader, Rory Evitt, about her work at Scenic HQ, and how she goes about helping to create our unforgettable 5-star escapes.

Read the full Q&A with Rory below.

Hi Rory, thanks for agreeing to be a part of the first edition of Scenic Spotlight. Could you tell us how long you’ve been working at Scenic and a little about your first role within the company?

I’ve been working at Scenic for just over three years now, and originally started within the Reservations team as a Reservations Consultant. I found this to be a really rewarding role, as I was entrusted with taking care of every aspect of the customer journey, ensuring that everyone received the exceptional service that Scenic has become known for. It wasn’t just taking bookings either; I was charged with arranging everything from everyday requests to those extra special requirements, such as anniversary and birthday surprises — making the role really varied and fulfilling.

We understand you’ve recently moved over to a different department. Could you tell us about your new role and some of the responsibilities this entails?

After leaving the Reservations team, I moved to the Product and Content department, where I work as a Team Leader. This is very much the operational side of the business, and I’m now responsible for helping create the unique and exciting itineraries which promise unforgettable travel experiences for our guests — like those included in our recent Australia and New Zealand 2017/18 brochure.

Could you tell us what you enjoy most about your role at Scenic?

In this role, no two days are the same. I could be sourcing the most exclusive special hotel stays one day, and organising unique and immersive Scenic Freechoice and Enrich excursions and stopovers from around the world, the next — to make our itineraries truly enriching and unforgettable.

I also work closely with our in-house marketing and design teams to produce the Scenic brochures, using knowledge acquired from my previous position to accurately showcase our sensational escapes. Seeing our special, handcrafted itineraries beautifully laid out in the various brochures is one of the most rewarding and exciting aspects of the job, and I’m confident our guests will love flicking through the guides to read more about the unforgettable experiences that await them.

Given the choice, where in the world would you like to travel, and which Scenic tour or river cruise would you choose?

Since being a part of the Product and Content department I have fallen in love with Australia, especially our Grand Australia itinerary which I would have to choose if given the chance to experience one of our wonderful 5-star escorted tours. This itinerary takes in all the sights of Australia, starting in Perth on the west coast. The 26-day tour features a visit to Ayers Rock, where guests can enjoy the exclusive Field of Lights experience as part of Scenic Enrich. Then it’s on to Melbourne and the Great Barrier Reef, before finishing up with a seaplane flight over the iconic Sydney Harbour Bridge. It truly is a once-in-a-lifetime trip.

We hope you’ve enjoyed reading this Q&A and found out a little more about what goes on behind the scenes here at Scenic to make your travels truly unforgettable. To book your next getaway with us, visit the homepage or call us on 0808 301 4869.
