Melbourne city council have reportedly implemented a number of projects that are working towards making Melbourne "a true cycling city", something which the lord mayor has previously pledged to do. In the past two years, $8 million of funding has been spent on turning Melbourne into a cyclist's paradise, which included improving and creating more cycle paths as well as launching a bike hire scheme. The most recent project saw a whole vehicle lane of Princes Bridge be replaced with a large area reserved for cyclists.
The article from The Guardian, which can be read by following the link below, also demonstrates how other cities in Australia are catching on to this cycling revolution. From Perth to Sydney, there are plenty of opportunities for those embarking on luxury holidays to Australia to explore its most vibrant cities by bike, but Melbourne, in particular, comes highly recommended.
