For the traditional end of the summer in America, the country’s most historic city – Boston – is set to end the season in style with a multitude of amazing events. From fireworks and tall ships, Broadway singers and blue men, to sports and a celebration of beer, this year’s Labor Day weekend should be spectacular.

With Monday 7 September set to be a national holiday in the USA, many will start on the preceding Friday to enjoy the last long weekend of the summer. Event organisers in Boston have a lot of items on the agenda for the holiday weekend. With a multitude of exciting USA escorted tours stopping in the city, there is a great chance you could be at one of these enjoyable events.

For patrons of the arts, the Boston Arts Festival will start on Friday at the Christopher Columbus Park. With music, crafts and art along the waterfront, the city’s North End hosts amazing displays of photography, glasswork, jewelry, paintings, ceramics and more items on exhibit and for sale.

The world famous Boston Pops Orchestra will be joined by Broadway superstar Kristin Chenoweth for a very special concert at Tanglewood Park on Saturday. Famous for her roles on television and the musical Wicked, Chenoweth will entertain the crowd. The night is capped off with fireworks. For those looking for a quirkier theatrical display, Las Vegas greats The Blue Man Group will perform at the Charles Playhouse all weekend long.

For fans of American professional sports, two of Boston’s biggest squads are in town to compete. The NFL’s New England Patriots play against the New York Giants in a preseason American football match. In baseball, the Boston Red Sox host a weekend series at Fenway Park against the visiting Philadelphia Phillies. And, finally, the best golfers in the world will be on hand to compete in the PGA’s Deutsche Bank Championship at the TPC Boston in Norton, Massachusetts.

On Friday, the state Brewers Fest takes place at the World Trade Center in the city’s South Boston Waterfront neighborhood. Over 20 local brewers will be on hand, and visitors can enjoy samples of more than 100 of the best tasting regional beers.

Finally, two great events can be enjoyed in the iconic Boston Harbor. Relive life at sea during the War of 1812 on “Old Ironsides” – the USS Constitution at the Charlestown Navy Yard. On Saturday night, the sky over the harbour will be set ablaze with a spectacular fireworks display.
