Romanian delicacy proves increasingly popular

Romania's Christmas sweet bread, known as 'cozonac', still has people queuing outside bakeries and supermarkets just to get a loaf, even with the public's limited finances for luxury items. The sweet and tasty bread is baked with chocolate, nuts or pieces of Turkish delights and around 7 million are expected to be baked this year, excluding small local bakers.

The tasty bread is always baked around Christmas and Easter, a delicacy that is sure to tempt the appetites of those visiting Romania as part of a river cruise along the Danube. Although not available all year round, there are plenty of traditional Romanian dishes that make an interesting and delicious meal for visitors, including various soups, Goulash and a range of cheeses. Along with cozonac, Romania is a country which has a number of delicious desserts.
