Budapest will once again host the incredible spectacle of the Red Bull Air Race this year, offering locals and visitors alike a fantastic event to admire.
First established in 2003 and offering an air show like no other, the Red Bull Air Race is renowned as one of the finest events in the world and attracts huge crowds wherever it features. This year’s calendar offers eight stages of racing, with Budapest in the elite company of Abu Dhabi, Chiba in Japan and Las Vegas as the places to head to catch the action.
The 2015 staging will see 14 pilots compete in the Master Class and a further nine compete in the Challenger Class, and there promises to be plenty of action to be enjoyed. While Briton Nigel Lamb will be looking to defend the title he won in 2014, he’s likely to face stiff competition from Paul Bonhomme – the most successful pilot in the event’s history.
First return to Hungary since 2009
With 65,000 people lining the banks of the Danube when the last event took place in 2009, the return of the spectacle on the weekend of 4-5 July is sure to garner a similar level of interest, particularly for those visiting the city during a scenic river cruise across Europe. With Budapest staging the fourth event, those competing are expected to give it their all in search of victory.
With the Red Bull Air Race just one example of the fantastic events offered in Budapest throughout the calendar, it’s hardly surprising that the city is regarded as one of the top destinations in Europe.
