Scenic Tours is set to launch its brand new cruise ship, the Azure, on the Douro river in Portugal, becoming the first ever company to own and operate an independent cruise ship in the region.
Called the Azure, it is the latest in a series of ‘Space Ships’ created by Scenic Tours and looks to provide all the luxury and splendour that we have become renowned for through our five-star cruises in Europe and Russia. With a private butler service, unlimited complimentary drinks and so much more, the Scenic Azure looks to offer a holiday experience of only the highest order.
The introduction of this fantastic new ship is being teamed with a brand new itinerary, with the 96 guests on board enjoying the stunning landscapes of Portugal for 11 days as they travel from the city of Porto to Vega de Terron on the Spanish border.
Carving through the countryside of Northern Portugal, the banks of the Douro River are home to a fine mix of stunning landscapes and traditional towns and villages, offering an opportunity to discover authentic Portugal at its best.
No Overnight Cruising
Another fantastic feature is that there is no overnight cruising, meaning that those on board won’t miss any of the fantastic scenery as they cruise along the Douro. As well as visiting the Heritage-listed city of Porto and the picturesque Vega de Terron, guests will also have the opportunity to enjoy a pre-cruise extension to the Portuguese capital of Lisbon.
Chris Townson, our Managing Director, said:
“We can’t wait for our guests to experience the sun-drenched Iberian countryside from the comfort of our brand new Scenic Azure, We’ve worked hard at procuring some extraordinary and diverse experiences to accompany our ultra-all-inclusive debut on the Douro, and we’re proud to be setting a new level of luxury on the waters of this beautiful region.”
The Scenic Azure will launch in April 2016 along with our new Mekong river cruise itineraries, both of which are a fantastic itinerary for travellers to become acquainted with the world of luxurious river cruising.
