To give you a taste of the type of luxury accommodation you can expect when exploring the world with Scenic, here we take an in-depth look at one of our most popular hotels in Asia.

Marina Bay Sands Hotel — An Eco-Friendly Metropolis in the Sky

Situated directly on one of Singapore’s most vibrant and eye-catching waterfronts, the Marina Bay Sands Hotel is an ultra-modern super hotel whose eco-friendly design and incredible scale make it a true show-stopper — no mean feat given its location in one of the world’s most dazzling metropolises.

The hotel stands 57-floors high and covers a vast area of this popular waterfront, making it one of the largest luxury hotels in the city. The building was completed in 2010, and has since risen to become one of Singapore’s premier entertainment venues — its wealth of facilities and amenities providing enjoyment for all tastes and interests.

One of the most impressive aspects of the Marina Bay Sands Hotel is its design, which takes inspiration from the fluidity of a deck of cards, and was given the nod by Singapore’s top Feng Shui experts. The hotel comprises of three cascading towers connected by a one-hectare roof terrace, known as the Sky Deck. The Sky Deck is home to the world’s largest elevated swimming pool, as well as an alfresco relaxation and dining area themed around a tropical paradise — the ideal place to enjoy the 360° panoramic vistas offered by this 656ft-tall structure.

This near-obsessive attention to detail continues inside the hotel too, with spacious, contemporary public spaces filtering guests elegantly to their private suite, of which there are 12 suite varieties to choose from. The Premier Room (which you’ll enjoy as a Scenic guest) is loaded with indulgent features, including a deep bathtub, 42” interactive flat-screen television, 24-hour room service, fully stocked minibar and in-suite internet facility — so you could easily bunk up in your room for an evening of relaxation and ‘me time’. If you’d prefer to venture out, the Premier class of suite entitles you access to the infinity pool, SkyPark and Banyan Tree Fitness Club.

Luxury design and comfort might be at the forefront of the Marina Bay Sands offering, but like many of the buildings in Singapore, it’s also at the cutting edge of eco-friendly design and architecture. This commitment to ecological design is best showcased by the hotel’s on-site ArtScience Museum, which hosts an ever-changing roster of exhibits related to science, media, architecture, technology, and art. The museum is housed in a lotus flower-shaped building which is fully sustainable, and harvests rain water to be recycled and used in the building’s toilets — helping to control water wastage.

Singapore is wholly invested in spreading eco-friendly living, making it the perfect place to host Asia’s first and only sustainable light festival. The festival promotes energy-saving light technology for the urban environment, and will take place along the Marina Bay waterfront for three weeks from 3-26 March 2017.

Now that we’ve covered the hotel’s luxurious yet ecologically-considered design, it’s time to explore its nightlife, entertainment and amenities — of which it has an abundance.

With over 23 bars, restaurants and nightclubs on-site, you will be absolutely spoiled spoilt for choice when deciding how to spend the evening. Will it be savouring the contemporary Chinese seafood and exceptional champagne of Yú Cuisine, or does the fusion Thai food and creative cocktails of Long Chim sound more to your taste? Or, perhaps you’d prefer to skip the fine dining and move straight to the dancefloor? If so, the Cé La Vi nightclub, located on the 57th floor, is the perfect place to groove the night away.

Of course, the Marina Bay Sands Hotel caters just as well for those looking for a more sedate evening. For fans of Broadway and the West End, The Grand Theatre offers a spellbinding programme of special performances and events, including adaptations of Singin’ in the Rain, The Lion King and Wicked!

Elsewhere, the Event Plaza at the Promenade plays host to the dazzling Wonder Full laser and light show, a 13-minute tale based on the journey of life which lights up the waterfront in a spectacular display of colour. There’s a large Las Vegas-style casino too, which boasts not only the world’s largest atrium, but also the world’s biggest Swarovski crystal chandelier — the perfect place to enjoy a flutter.

And for those with a penchant for shopping, the Marina Bay Sands complex is home to over 300 retail outlets, including designer favourites like Chanel, Armani, Cartier and Ralph Lauren. These high-end stores can be found in The Shoppes area of the hotel, which also features a Venetian-style canal where you can enjoy a relaxing gondola ride through the centre of this amazing wonderland.

With a great deal more to see and do than is possible to include in a single review, the Marina Bay Sands Hotel provides an extraordinary place to enjoy a stopover as part of a longer touring holiday with Scenic.

If you’d like to experience the splendour of this luxury hotel for yourself, take a look at our Luxury Mekong river cruise, where we’re giving you the chance to enjoy a free 2-night inbound stopover at the Marina Bay Sands Hotel as part of our January sale.
