Over 40,000 visited the Danube Delta last year

Data gathered concerning travel and tourism in Romania in 2012 has been released by the National Statistics Institute, and the period appears to be a successful one according to these figures. Over 41,500 people visited the beautiful Danube Delta last year, including both Romanian tourists and international visitors.

Around 15% of total visitors came from abroad and stayed in local accommodation, but this does not account for the hundreds of people who enjoyed cruising along the Danube in a luxury river cruise ship.

The River Danube has a great deal to offer those looking for a luxury holiday, from iconic cultural centres such as Vienna and Budapest to outstanding natural beauty, and with the Danube Delta proving to be a hit in 2012, there has never been a better time to travel to Romania.
