Explore the Mediterranean's Most Stunning Coastlines

There’s no doubt about it, the Mediterranean boasts some of the most beautiful coastlines in the world. Captivating crystal-clear waters, historic landmarks and awe-inspiring views await at every turn, making it an ideal destination for leisure breaks all year round.

Come along with us as we take a journey along the Mediterranean coast, from the French Riviera to the Greek Islands. We explore the most picturesque, awe-inspiring stretches of coast the Mediterranean has to offer. From glitzy seaside destinations favoured by Hollywood A-listers to some of the continent’s hidden gems. These are the Mediterranean’s most stunning coastlines.

Marseille, France

One of France’s most historical and culture-rich cities, Marseille is a goldmine for history buffs and culture vultures. An old port town, Marseille is best explored arriving on the waters and the port is still thriving and exciting. Fresh seafood can be found in the wonderful selection of eateries which surround the port – providing a wonderful place to sit and watch the world pass by.

Visit: Only have an hour or two to explore? The Vieux Port (Old Port) and Le Panier neighbourhoods are amongst the oldest (and most picturesque) ports of the city, or to learn more about the history of the region, a visit to the Museum of European and Mediterranean Civilisations (MuCEM) is highly recommended.

Vieux Port Old Port Marseille France

Cannes, France

The famously glamorous resort of Cannes is one of the crowning jewels of the Mediterranean coastline. From super-sized luxury yachts and streets lined with Ferraris to designer boutiques and exclusive hotels, Cannes is an exciting wonderland, ripe for exploration.

Visit: La Croisette Beach is the perfect place to relax and people-watch during sunny days. Want to stretch your legs and explore? The long curving La Croisette promenade runs between the Old Town and the marina, and offers spectacular views of the ocean.

Venice, Italy

Venice is one of the most iconic cities in the world. It’s romantic waterways, historic bridges and vibrant city streets have made it one of the most visited destinations in Italy. Don’t forget your map; the backstreets of Venice are full of hidden gems, from charming cafés to shops stocked with local crafts.

Visit: If you are lucky enough to visit during the Carnival of Venice, one of the biggest celebrations in Italy, you’re in for a treat. The city transforms as locals and tourists don traditional Venetian masks and take to the streets in droves. This once-in-a-lifetime experience is unique to Venice and feels like taking a step back in time.

View of old town Dubrovnik Croatia

Dubrovnik, Croatia

Facing the Adriatic Sea, Dubrovnik is a sun-kissed seaport to charming Croatia. The beauty of the city’s Old Town is celebrated worldwide, and the area’s stunning architecture and imposing stone boundary walls have inspired writers for centuries.

Visit: Dubrovnik’s cable car will whisk you up from the city walls to Mt Srđ, where you will enjoy unparalleled panoramic views of the city below. Truly magical.

Kotor, Montenegro

The Kotor region of Montenegro is listed as a World Heritage Site. The natural beauty and cultural significance of this medieval harbour town are impossible to exaggerate. The port enjoys mesmerising views of the lush sweeping mountain slopes and clear turquoise waters of the bay.

Visit: The impressive views across the Bay of Kotor are what sets this fascinating town apart from its neighbours on Montenegro’s Adriatic coast. It’s one of the most historic, serene and breathtakingly beautiful bays in the world.

Fiscardo, Greece

Fiscardo is a small seaside village located on the largest of the Greek Ionian Islands, Kefalonia. In its picture-perfect harbour, you will find traditional Kefalonian fishing boats moored alongside the luxurious yachts of the rich and famous.

Visit: A walking tour is the best way to explore the ancient buildings and sights of the town. Don’t forget to stop at a waterfront café to indulge in some local Greek delicacies whilst you make your way around this relaxed, charming town.

Milos Greece Fishing Village

Milos, Greece

The jewel-coloured waters of Milos have earned this beautiful volcanic island the nickname of the ‘Island of Colours’. If you love swimming in the ocean, Kleftiko Beach is a must for anyone who ventures to Milos. The emerald waters are crystal clear, cool and unbelievably refreshing. You’ll also be able to explore the incredible caves that are dotted along the beach side.

Visit: The Catacombs of Milos are one of the most important early Christian monuments in Greece. Located in the foothills of the village of Trypiti surrounded by olive and palm trees, the catacombs date back as far as the 1st century.
