The world famous Vienna State Opera revealed the details of their 2013-14 season of performances this week.
Vienna is one of the most respected cities in the world in terms of the operatic productions that it stages year after year, and much anticipation has surrounded the announcement of the 2013-14 operatic season.
The Vienna Opera season will see 350 performances of some legendary operas, including six new productions. Puccini's "La Fanciulla del West" and Wagner's "Lohengrin" are just two of these new productions, and the 2013-14 opera season will also see the debut of some rising opera stars, such as Michele Losier and Bryan Hymel.
Some of the biggest stars in the music industry will also be getting involved with the Vienna State Opera, including Placido Domingo in Madame Butterfly and Bryn Terfel in Tosca.
The opening of the Vienna Opera season is scheduled for 3 September and will run until June 2014, perfect for anyone thinking of visiting Vienna as part of a river cruise in Europe within the next year.
