Record number of Britons enjoyed cruises in 2014

This news comes after figures were released by the Cruise Lines International Association, which found that a record 1.79 million British people enjoyed a cruise during 2013.

Representing an increase of five per cent – or 89,000 passengers - compared to last year, this is the latest evidence of a continuing strong upward trend which cruise holiday companies in Europe and other parts of the world have experienced in recent years; passenger figures have risen by a total of 300,000 (or 21 per cent) over the last five years alone.

More success expected for 2014

Positive predictions have also been made for the future of the sector, with the number of those expected to embark on cruise holidays in 2014 in Europe and around the world estimated to be around 21.7 million, rising by two per cent from the 21.3 million passengers which were recorded in 2013.

With many of the best cruises available on a full-board and all-inclusive basis, this hassle-free holiday style - with everything paid for before setting sail - has become understandably popular of late.

The European river cruise sector in particular is enjoying tremendous expansion, helping the upward global trend, with the opportunity to explore picturesque landscapes and explore age-old cities on rivers including the Rhine, Seine and Danube offering the perfect voyage of peace and relaxation.

As a company which specialises in all-inclusive river cruises across Europe, as well as tours of the USA, Australia, South America and many other destinations, Scenic Tours can allow you to discover unchartered territory in the height of luxury.
