Three Top San Francisco Sights

Coit Tower

First up, we have one of the city's most obvious attractions, the stunning Coit Tower. Located atop the city's historic Telegraph Hill, the tower is an excellent destination to head to if you want views out over the surrounding city. The tower itself is a city-owned monument and home to a number of beautiful murals, which were commissioned by the federal Works Progress Administration and completed in 1933. A walk around the base of the tower and access to the murals is free, but a trip in the elevator to the top will cost $7.

Golden Gate Park

When it comes to famous parks in the USA, New York City's Central Park is often seen as the best. The Golden Gate Park, however, has to be a close second and is certainly the most beautiful park in San Francisco. The numerous tree lined walks and gorgeous flowerbeds make Golden Gate Park an ideal destination for anyone looking for a relaxing walk, and the Victorian greenhouse in the centre is a fascinating slice of history. Those feeling particularly energetic can walk out to the western edge of the park for a look at the herd of bison which live in the Bison Paddock.

Golden Gate Bridge and the Presidio

An article on sites in San Francisco wouldn't be complete without a mention of the stunning Golden Gate Bridge and the views from the historic Presidio. The Presidio dates back over 230 years, with much of that time spent as a military base. Its current use, however, is much more civilised and it provides the perfect spot to view the beautiful Golden Gate Bridge. Once you've finished viewing the bridge from a distance, you can walk up onto it for stunning views out over the surrounding bay.
