Tourism Australia confirm new Managing Director

Having previously worked for Fox Sports as Chief Operating Officer, O’Sullivan holds many years of experience in executive positions at large companies - Events Queensland and the Sydney 2000 Olympic and Paralympic Organising committee are among the high profile groups he has worked for in the past. Also a current member of the Tourism Transport Forum Advisory Board, O’Sullivan will be able to transfer his vast industry knowledge into making Tourism Australia into an even bigger success.

Geoff Dixon, the Tourism Australia Chairman, was thrilled with the acquisition of O’Sullivan, saying that John’s obvious passion for the country, combined with his huge knowledge and experience in the tourism and events industry, makes him the perfect candidate to lead the tourism body into the future.

Mr O’Sullivan will take up the role in March 2014, with the board’s International Executive General Manager Frances-Anne Keeler stepping into the role until his arrival.

Great news for tourism

Already one of the world’s most effective national tourism organisations, Tourism Australia is integral in helping the country attract an average of six million visitors every year. With tourism becoming an ever more important tool in the growth of Australia, O’Sullivan said he looks forward to playing a major part in the future journey.

If you are keen to explore why Melbourne, Sydney or any of the other hotspots Down Under prove so popular, the range of escorted tours of Australia from Scenic Tours offer the chance to do so in complete luxury.
