The adventure begins in Vietnam, where you’ll enjoy an elegant stay in Ho Chi Minh City, visit the infamous Cu Chi Tunnels and practice your bartering prowess at the floating markets of Cai Be. Then, you’ll travel into Cambodia on the great Mekong River, where you can marvel at the temples of Angkor Wat and explore the colonial heritage of Phnom Penh by Tuk Tuk. From Siem Reap, you’ll fly south to Singapore, where you’ll board the majestic Eastern & Oriental Express for an unforgettable rail journey through Malaysia and Thailand — and all in the utmost colonial elegance and style.

Welcome to Vietnam. Relax for the next two nights at your elegant Special Stay hotel in Ho Chi Minh City.

Highlights: Cu Chi Tunnels, Freechoice Dining

Travel along the Saigon River to the Cu Chi Tunnels and learn about the underground labyrinth of war-time passageways. After lunch, stop for some bargaining at Ben Thanh Market.

Enjoy a Vespa foodie tour of Saigon by night or enjoy a meal in the surroundings of an old French colonial house. Alternatively dine at Restaurant Nineteen or Square One or similar.

Ho Chi Minh City > Mekong Cruise

Discover all about Vietnam’s modern history through a visit to the Reunification Palace and War Museum. Travel by coach to My Tho to board the luxurious Scenic Spirit.

Cai Be > Sa Dec
Highlights: Freechoice, Sa Dec markets

Later immerse yourself in the historic town of Sa Dec. From your sampan disembark, explore and interact with the sellers in the lively market and visit the home of Mr Huynh Thuy Le who inspired Marguerite Duras’ novel L’Amant. Spend the remainder of the afternoon cruising to Tan Chau.

Board a sampan to visit the famous Cai Be floating market before stopping at local cottage industries and French colonial or traditional Vietnamese houses. Alternatively relish a later start before savouring morning tea at the French colonial Le Longanier House featuring local musicians and cultural demonstrations. Tan Chau

Tonight is your themed evening dinner to say farewell to Vietnam.

Stay in Tan Chau to visit Evergreen Island and enjoy a ride in a Xe Loi through the local town. Alternatively choose from two options which cruise by speedboat to Chau Doc. Firstly visit a family-operated fish farm before walking through a Cham village or visit Tra Su Bird Sanctuary.

Day 7
Tan Chau > Phnom Penh
Highlights: Enrich - Raffles Experience and High Tea

Relax during a full day of cruising as you cross the border into Cambodia. Make use of the ship’s luxury and take the time to enjoy a cocktail by the pool or appreciate some solitude on your private balcony as you watch the scenery pass you by before berthing in Phnom Penh.

Arrive in style by tuk tuk and immerse yourself in the historically celebrated luxury of Raffles, Hotel Le Royal. Enjoy a guided history tour followed by an indulgent high tea prepared in front of you by the hotel’s chefs, all whilst sipping on your signature cocktail named in honour of Jacqueline Kennedy. Retire to the Elephant Bar before returning to the ship.

Phnom Penh

Later this afternoon visit the National Museum and the Royal Palace with the famous Silver Pagoda within.

Journey to the Killing Fields and tour Tuol Sleng, the former school that was converted to the main prison of the Khmer Rouge, or take a guided tour of the local food market before joining a hands on Khmer cooking demonstration. Alternatively, by Tuk Tuk explore Phnom Penh’s colonial buildings, the Central Market as well as its modern architecture before stopping for lunch at a local NGO restaurant which teaches street kids hospitality skills.

Day 9
Oudong > Kampong Tralach > Kho Chen
Highlights: Enrich - Monk blessing

After a short cruise from Phnom Penh to Kampong Tralach, experience an ox cart ride from the ship through a local village and fields to Wat Kampong Tralach. Board your coach to the ancient capital of Oudong to visit the impressive pagoda and monastery to observe the lifestyle of the resident monks and nuns.

Drive a short distance to Prek K’dam to re-board Scenic Spirit. Later sail downstream to wander through the silversmith village of Kho Chen before continuing your cruise to Kampong Cham.

Receive a blessing in the pagoda from a monk and learn how to pray in a Buddhist pagoda before giving a donation which contributes to the daily meal of the resident nuns and monks.

Wat Hanchey > Kampong Cham

Awake as you approach Wat Hanchey, an ancient hilltop pagoda and monastery to meet the resident novice monks. Walk to the top and soak in some of the best elevated views of the cruise before sailing downstream to Kampong Cham.

Learn about the history of the area with a visit to Phnom Pros (Man Hill) and then Wat Nokor, an 11th century temple that has a modern pagoda built within. Alternatively explore the ecotourism village of Cheung Kok or spend your time visiting a rubber plantations and a beetle nut village outside of Kampong Cham.

Transfer to the airport for your flight to Singapore, where you'll be met at the Airport and transferred to Park Royal on Pickering for an overnight stay

Please note: During your stay in Singapore, prior to boarding the Eastern & Oriental Express, you will be met upon arrival and escorted to your hotel by a local representative.

Singapore > Eastern & Oriental Express

Explore Singapore in the morning during your free time, then transfer to the Fullerton Hotel to check in for the Eastern & Oriental Express. You will be met at the station by exquisitely dressed stewards who will show you to your private cabin. Once you have settled in, enjoy an afternoon tea as the train rolls out of Singapore and crosses the Causeway Bridge into Malaysia. As your journey winds through Malaysia, the train travels through and onward to the northern state of Perak, one of 11 states and 2 federal territories in the Malay peninsula.

Day 16
Kuala Kangsar > Padang Besar

After breakfast, arrive at Kuala Kangsar, the picturesque royal town of Perak and the official residence of the Sultan of Perak. Your excursion will first take you to the grand Ubudiah Mosque, reputed to be one of Malaysia’s most resplendent. Close by is the captivating Royal Museum of Perak, an architectural masterpiece which now houses the Royal regalia. En route to the museum, you will see one of the oldest rubber trees in Malaysian peninsula. Your unforgettable tour concludes with a visit to the Sultan Shah Gallery. Later, enjoy lunch back on board the Eastern & Oriental Express as your journey continues, cutting a path through rice fields with limestone outcrops on the horizon, heading for the border town of Padang Besar, where Malaysia meets Thailand.

Kanchanaburi > Bangkok

Lush jungles and winding rivers set the surrounding scene for the town of Kanchanaburi. After breakfast on board, alight at the River Kwai Bridge station for a cruise along the picturesque river where a local historian will divulge secrets of this world famous landmark. Visits to a war museum and war cemetery are also included, if you please. Dine back on board, enjoying a plentiful lunch as you head towards Krung Thep, also known as Bangkok, for an overnight stay at the Shangri La Bangkok.
