Welcome to the Rhine, an icon of Europe. Over 12 unforgettable days, let the course of this mighty river showcase the best of four incredible countries – from the cultural cradle of Amsterdam in the Netherlands, to the arresting beauty of the Swiss Alps in Montreux and Bern. Your journey is complemented by a National Geographic expert, who will be your guide to the natural beauty of the region, offering in-depth learning experiences that give you a deeper understanding of the local cultures and traditions lovingly retained along the banks of the river.

We begin in the north, where Amsterdam and its many cultural treasures are yours to explore, either on foot or by Scenic E-Bike. Enjoy a guided tour of the famous Rijksmuseum with your National Geographic expert or else take a trip to the fishing village of Volendam, before your Rhine cruise really begins as you travel south into Germany. Savour the history of the Germanic towns on the river’s edge, from Cochem to Rudesheim to Heidelberg, and enjoy a private concert at the Rastatt Palace with Scenic Enrich. Slipping into France, stroll through the beautiful Old Town of Strasbourg as you encounter the ancient traditions of Alsace, or take a hike in the enchanting Black Forest. From here, your land journey begins in Switzerland, where you’ll spend five wonderful days exploring Montreux, Bern, Lucerne and Zurich, before your return flight back to the UK.

These departures will be accompanied by a National Geographic expert who will give talks throughout the week and join guests on off-ship excursions. Additionally, a National Geographic photographer will be on board to share techniques and help guests hone their photography skills. We've added extra choice excursions as well, from hikes and bike rides to in-depth learning experiences that focus on the natural world, culture, and history.
