Your journey on this epic channel begins in St Petersburg, Russia’s stunning second city, where you’ll marvel at exquisite architecture and enjoy some of the world’s leading heritage attractions, including the exceptional Hermitage Museum. You’ll then travel north-east through charming backwaters, visiting the historic village of Mandrogi and savouring the scenic beauty of the Volga-Baltic Canal. From here, you’ll continue south to Goritsy, Yaroslavl and Uglich, before venturing to the heart of Moscow with its iconic sights and incredible legacy.

This morning visit Catherine’s Palace, famous for its grandiose white and gold façade and its elaborate gardens.

This morning visit the Hermitage, formerly the Winter Palace and home to the Tsars. Today it houses one of the world’s most magnificent art collections.

This morning your ship docks at Kizhi Island – an open air museum with a precious collection of wooden churches and chapels. It is easily amongst the most magnificent examples of wooden architecture in Russia, if not the world.

Highlights: Vodka tasting

Explore the Kirillo-Belozersky monastery, built in 1397 and home to a wonderful collection of Russian Orthodox icons. As the ship sets sail, you’ll get to toast the occasion with a little vodka, a beverage integral to Russian culture for over 600 years.

Highlights: City tour

Welcome to the fascinating and ancient city of Yaroslavl. In fact, dating back to 1010, it’s even older than mighty Moscow. Today you’ll have an opportunity to visit the Fine Art Museum, housed in the Governor’s mansion, featuring the impressive collection of Russian paintings.

Highlights: Scenic Sundowners cruise

Relax on board as you sail towards Russia’s mightiest city. Though now more accessible to travellers from around the world, these incredible icons still exude much of the enigma that has always defined them.
