Having become the youngest ever principal dancer at the Royal Ballet aged just 20, Darcey admits “I was amazed when it happened, totally flabbergasted. I knew I had it in me to be a principal, but I just didn’t think it would happen that early. It was really tough, but luckily I didn’t have time to think about it too much.” Her talent and technical skill saw her go on to dance for the world’s most acclaimed ballet companies, including being the only Royal Ballet dancer to perform at the Kirov in Russia. Now, Scenic guests can enjoy time with the dancer, author and presenter on this special cruise revealing the cultural delights of Russia.
You will join Darcey in St Petersburg and discover her insights and tales from her career and time dancing in Russia in conversation with Dance Critic Mark Monahan. You will also receive a signed keepsake from Darcey and join her and Mark for a very special ballet performance by one of the city’s ballet companies.
