20 Day Itinerary

  1. Day 1 - Depart UK

    Fly from London Heathrow or Manchester with Singapore Airlines. Regional airports available on request at an additional supplement. Please call for details.

  2. Day 2 - Yangon

    Welcome to Myanmar, where you will check into your hotel in Yangon for your overnight stay. Enjoy your welcome dinner at the beautiful Le Planteur Restaurant.

  3. Day 3 - Yangon > Inle Lake

    Fly to Heho and drive to Nyaung Shwe. After lunch, glide across Inle Lake in private long tail boats towards your resort for a three night Special Stay.

  4. Day 4 - Inle Lake

    Take an excursion by long tail boats to visit Inle Lake’s floating market, which moves every five days. See the holiest site in Inle Lake, the Phaung Daw Oo Pagoda and Royal barges.

    Learn all about traditional Intha cooking with a visit to an Intha family home for lunch.
    Later, cruise down a network of small canals to the Pa-Oh village of Indein.

  5. Day 5 - Inle Lake

    Visit Pindaya Caves or travel to Taunggyi and lunch at a local winery. Alternatively, take a local village trek close by.

    Enjoy evening drinks while overlooking the stunning lake.

  6. Day 6 - Inle Lake > Mandalay

    Fly to Mandalay. Later, head to Mandalay Hill for magnificent sunset views before your overnight stay.

  7. Day 7 - Mandalay > Irrawaddy Cruise

    Marvel at Shwenandaw, a beautiful wooden monastery covered internally in gold leaf. Equally as impressive are the sights at Kuthodaw Pagoda, where the ‘world’s largest book’ is housed. Later, walk through the rebuilt Mandalay Palace, destroyed during World War II.

    Learn how to produce gold leaf at a local workshop. At Mahamuni Pagoda, male guests may place the gold leaf on the iconic Buddha statue.

    Board Scenic Aura and enjoy tonight’s welcome reception whilst cruising upstream on the mighty Irrawaddy River.

  8. Day 8 - Kyauk Myaung

    After a morning cruising through the waters where the Irrawaddy dolphin is known to live, we arrive at the pottery village of Kyuak Myaung. Wander through the village to witness the artisans honing their craft and the unusual way of firing pottery.

  9. Day 9 - Mingun

    This afternoon in Mingun discover the stories behind a massive unfinished brick pagoda. Nearby, admire the un-cracked Mingun Bell and the stunning all-white Hsinbyume Pagoda.

  10. Day 10 - Sagaing > Amarapura

    Sagaing is dotted with hundreds of painted pagodas and monasteries.

    Interact with novice monks, nuns and orphans during a special visit to a monastic supported school. Continue to a nunnery where you will partake in the ritual and our donation to the resident nuns before their midday meal.

    In Amarapura, relax with evening drinks in boats under U-Bein Bridge, the world’s longest teak bridge, to capture that memorable photo of the bridge’s silhouette at sunset.

  11. Day 11 - Pakkoku

    Cruise through the morning to Pakkoku to visit a cheroot cigar workshop and longyi and blanket factory in the afternoon.

  12. Day 12 - Salay

    Cruise downstream to Salay. On your walking tour of the town, explore Paya Thonzu, a small trio of brick shrines, admire Youqson Kyaung, a beautiful teak monastery and look inside the largest lacquer Buddha image in Myanmar.

    From the riverfront, soak up the ambience of the river and the colonial feel of the town whilst enjoying traditional local Burmese tea and snacks in a restored colonial villa dating from 1906.

  13. Day 13 - Magwe

    Enjoy the morning sailing to Magwe, where you will experience a tour of the town by trishaw. Take in the views from Mya Tha Lun Pagoda, a mesmerising architectural vision set on Naguttama Hill.

  14. Day 14 - Sailing

    Make use of the ship’s luxury and take the time to sip a cocktail by the pool or enjoy some solitude on your private balcony during your full day sailing upstream along the Irrawaddy towards Bagan.

  15. Day 15 - Bagan

    Arrive into Bagan this morning. After breakfast travel by horse and cart through a local village then through the surrounding plain and it’s temple ruins, before learning all about the production of Burmese lacquerware, a Bagan specialty.

    A special occasion awaits as you watch sunset over the temples, with drink in hand.

    Be wowed by a Scenic exclusive magical themed dinner, with included drinks and a cultural show in front of candle lit Bagan temple ruins.

  16. Day 16 - Bagan

    Rise early to attend and partake in morning alms for the local monks or watch sunrise from atop one of the temples inside the park.

    Optional Hot Air Balloon Flight -  Between 1 October and 31 March, take a hot air balloon flight over the majestic temples of Bagan. (Flights last approximately 45 minutes and must be purchased prior to your cruise to guarantee availability).

    Venture to Mount Popa, home to Myanmar’s nats or nature spirits, before heading to a Toddy Farm where a traditional lunch awaits, or cross the river to Tant Kyi Tuang to take in the expansive elevated views of Bagan. Alternatively, explore the markets at Nyaung U before either exploring the Temple Circuit, or enjoying a visit to Old Bagan.

    Later this afternoon visit the most iconic sight of this intriguing region, the impressive Ananda Temple before returning on board for your farewell dinner.

  17. Day 17 - Irrawaddy Cruise > Yangon

    Disembark and fly to Yangon, stopping for lunch at the historical House of Memories Restaurant, once the office of General Aung San. Then check into your hotel for your two-night Special Stay. This evening, enjoy access to the included facilities of the Pacific Club.

  18. Day 18 - Yangon

    Ride a local train around Yangon’s suburbs. Alternatively, be guided on a tour of Yangon’s thriving art scene, or ride a ferry across the Yangon River to Dhala village.

    Visit Chaukhtatgyi Paya, Yangon’s reclining Buddha.

    As the sun sets, wander around Shwedagon Pagoda and learn about the ritual of oil lamp lighting before partaking in this tradition.

    Enjoy tonight’s farewell dinner at the iconic colonial Strand Hotel.

  19. Day 19 - Yangon

    Say 'Thaw Dau Mal' to Myanmar and transfer to the airport for your flight home with Singapore Airlines. Alternatively, extend your journey with an inbound stopover in Dubai, Bangkok or Singapore.
