  1. Day 1 - Fukuoka

    Fly from the UK for your overnight flight to Fukuoka.

  2. Day 2 - Fukuoka

    This evening enjoy your welcome reception at your luxury hotel in Fukuoka for the next two nights.

  3. Day 3 - Fukuoka

    Visit Shofuku-ji, the oldest Zen Temple in Japan and the sixth century Kushida Shrine. Next, wander through the Hakata Machiya Folk Museum where you can witness first-hand the prestigious Hakata-ori woven textile being made.

    Shop to your heart’s content at Canal City or visit Maizuru Park and the castle ruins located within before enjoying the view from Fukuoka Tower.

  4. Day 4 - Fukuoka > Hiroshima > Miyajima Island

    Travel by Shinkansen train to Hiroshima. Later sail by ferry to Miyajima Island to visit Daisho-in Temple and the floating sixth century Torii Gate at the Itsukushima Shrine. Tonight, sample Okonomiyaki, a delicious Japanese-style pancake, a speciality of the region. You’ll enjoy two restful nights in Hiroshima.

  5. Day 5 - Hiroshima

    This morning see the industrial robots perform around the Mazda car factory.

    Experience an emotional visit to the Peace Park and Museum before visiting Orizuru Tower to create your own special origami donation.

  6. Day 6 - Hiroshima > Kyoto

    Travel by Shinkansen to marvel at Himeji Castle, an original and Japan’s most spectacular castle before continuing to Kyoto, home to many World Heritage-listed Sites. Begin a memorable three night stay in Kyoto.

  7. Day 7 - Kyoto

    Revel in the atmosphere of the ancient preservation districts or visit the Silver Pavilion and then stroll along the Philosopher’s Walk. Alternatively visit the Fushimi Inari Shrine, featured in the movie Memoirs of a Geisha and marvel at the architecture of Nijo Castle, a classic reminder of the fascinating Edo-period shogunate’s power.

    After strolling through the Gion District, tonight’s dinner will allow you to interact with a Maiko who’ll host your meal presentation. It’s an excellent opportunity to learn about what is involved in becoming a Geisha and the art of Japanese hospitality.

  8. Day 8 - Kyoto > Nara

    Enjoy an excursion to Nara, where you’ll visit Todaiji Temple and Nara Park. En-route back you’ll stop for some sake tasting and visit a sake museum.

    Choose between Japanese cuisine at Shinensen Heihachi, or international cuisine at the historic Fortune Garden.

  9. Day 9 - Kyoto > Kanazawa

    Visit the Kinkaku-ji or Golden Pavilion before travelling by Shinakansen to Kanazawa. Upon arrival wander around Kenroku-en Garden, one of Japan’s three great gardens located across from Kanazawa Castle Park. Enjoy a two night stay.

  10. Day 10 - Kanazawa

    This morning visit Omi-cho Market, commonly known as Ishikawa’s Kitchen with over 180 stalls.

    Explore the historic Higashi Chaya Teahouse district and partake in a Japanese tea and drum ceremony whilst dressed in a traditional Japanese kimono, a great photo opportunity.

    Later catch a glimpse of life in Feudal Japan with a visit to former Kaga Clan Samurai houses in the Nagamachi district.

    Savour the best local Kaga cuisine or enjoy international fare.

    Ryokan Upgrade
    Choose to stay tonight in a Ryokan, a traditional Japanese Inn with futon beds and private facilities including dinner and breakfast (additional cost).

  11. Day 11 - Kanazawa > Takayama

    Cross beautiful countryside on your drive to Takayama stopping en-route at the famous traditional farmhouses of Shirakawa-go. Continue to Takayama and begin a two night stay with amazing views over the Takayama township.

  12. Day 12 - Takayama

    Begin the day wandering through Miyagawa morning markets before gaining unique insights into the region’s culture and history at the various museums, including the Festival Float Exhibition Hall. After lunch, partake in Sarubobo mascot-making at the Hida Folk Village before exploring Takayama’s old quarter’s small alley ways and shops.

    Choose between Le Midi, a French-inspired bistro in town famed for its Hida Beef, or Sakanaya, a fine Japanese restaurant set in a renovated former sake brewery near your hotel.

  13. Day 13 - Takayama > Matsumoto > Five Lakes

    Drive to Matsumoto to visit one of Japan’s most beautiful and original castles, the unique ‘hirajiro’ style Matsumoto Castle. Then continue to the Daio Wasabi Farm to learn how they make wasabi. As you venture deep into the stunning scenery of Kawaguchiko Area, discover the incredible workmanship involved in creating kimonos at the Itchiku Kubota Art Museum. Lastly soak in the views of Mt Fuji from your lovely hotel.

    Choose between Japanese or French menus at the hotel restaurant.

  14. Day 14 - Five Lakes > Hakone > Tokyo

    Moving to Hakone, walk around the hot springs of the Owakudani geothermal area before admiring the stunning scenery during your cable car ride down to your Lake Ashinoko cruise. Later study the art works and sculptures at the Hakone Open Air Museum before continuing to Tokyo and your wonderful Special Stay hotel for the next three nights.

    This evening, take in the bright lights of Tokyo during your dinner cruise on Tokyo Bay on a yakabutane, an old fashioned houseboat.

  15. Day 15 - Tokyo

    Wander through the Tsukiji Fish Market to see the mornings catch being distributed.

    Immerse yourself in Japanese cuisine with the help of a local chef, as you prepare your own sushi lunch.

    Visit the Imperial Shinto Meiji Shrine, before seeing the Shibuya scramble crossing. Alternatively wander through picturesque Shinjuku-Gyoen Gardens before witnessing the Shinjuku entertainment district come alive at dusk.

    Choose from a contemporary Asian mix at China Blue or culturally immerse yourself in the traditional Japanese evening bar scene serving Yakatori.

  16. Day 16 - Tokyo

    Today visit the Asakusa district, paying your respects at Sensoji, the city’s oldest Buddhist temple before enjoying a cruise along the Sumida River. Later, walk through the peaceful Hama-Rikyu Gardens located across from your hotel. Tonight relive your experiences at your beautiful farewell dinner.
